What is the probability that you will succeed out of over 8 billion people on earth?
Pause there.
Think beyond motivation.
Think beyond ambition.
Think beyond talent.
If success were purely a product of effort, the world would be far more balanced than it is. But reality teaches us something Scripture already revealed long ago — human effort has limits.
There is dignity in labour.
There is honour in diligence.
But there is danger in trusting effort alone.
The Bible consistently warns against boasting in strength, ability, wealth, or status because all of them can fail when it matters most.
This is where the doctrine of favour becomes unavoidable.
WHAT FAVOUR IS — AND WHAT IT IS NOT
Favour is not luck or manipulation. It doesn’t endorse spiritual laziness.
Favour is God’s empowerment upon a man that alters outcomes without violating process.
It is the invisible fragrance of God upon a life that causes help to locate you, access to open for you, and decisions to tilt in your direction.
Favour is the anointing of God upon a life that causes distinction, preference, and acceleration.
In an unfair world, favour becomes a necessary advantage.
Favour is God’s unfair advantage in an unfair world.
JOSEPH: MODEL OF DIVINE FAVOUR
Joseph’s story is not primarily about character development or resilience, those came later. It began with revelation.
Long before he wore a coat or stood before Pharaoh, Joseph saw a dream: His sheaf stood upright while others bowed. (Genesis 37:5-9).
That dream was not arrogance. It was divine disclosure. God was revealing something Joseph could not produce by effort—preference.
Even Joseph didn’t understand it then nor his brothers.
That same pattern followed him everywhere:
• He was loved by His father, more than this brothers.
• In Potiphar’s house, he was preferred.
• In prison, he was entrusted.
• In the palace, he was elevated.
Different environments. Same outcome.
Why?
“And the Lord was with Joseph.”
This clearly defines favour as a supernatural force upon a man’s life. Favour is not natural—it is Divine Empowerment
Favour is God’s prerogative, initiative and executive.
FAVOUR: THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S GLORY
What Joseph experienced practically, Isaiah later gave a prophetic insight.
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee… and nations shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” (Isaiah 60:1–3)
This is favour defined.
Favour is the glory of God upon a man’s life. It is not noise but radiance. It is not striving but supernatural attraction.
When the glory of God rests upon you:
• Visibility becomes natural.
• Access becomes easier.
• Preference becomes inevitable.
You don’t announce yourself. You don’t chase platforms and you don’t force relevance.
Men are drawn—not because you are louder, but because you are marked by favour.
This is why Joseph kept being noticed, Daniel was preferred among presidents and Esther was chosen without campaigning.
Favour attracts kings and systems without pursuit.
Favour is the manifestation of God’s Glory — the force field that attracts people to you.
FAVOUR: PREFERENCE IN THE PRESENCE OF COMPETENCE
This message is not an excuse for mediocrity.
Favour is not an endorsement of laziness. Grace does not excuse irresponsibility.
Joseph was competent.
Daniel was excellent.
Esther was prepared.
Favour operates most powerfully where competence already exists. It introduces preference in the presence of capacity.
In Daniel’s case, Scripture records that an excellent spirit was found in him—and that excellence attracted favour before kings.
Favour does not cancel preparation, it amplifies it. Favour does not reward laziness, it crowns diligence.
But competence alone never guarantees selection.
In rooms filled with capable people, favour determines:
• Who is remembered.
• Who is trusted.
• Who is chosen
Favour is preference when qualifications are equal.
WHY EFFORT ALONE IS NEVER ENOUGH
Effort can take you far but never far enough.
Effort may open doors but favour decides which doors matter. Effort may put you in rooms and favour gives you influence in those rooms.
Effort competes.
Favour distinguishes.
This is why Scripture insists that we do not trust in horses, chariots, or strength but in the Lord.
Man is grossly limited.
God is infinitely unlimited.
You cannot do without God’s help — Divine Favour.
THE NECESSITY OF FAVOUR
A life without favour is condemned to unnecessary struggle. It is not because the person is lazy but because effort alone is too weak to carry destiny.
Favour makes destiny fulfilment easier—not cheap, but lighter.
It is not optional.
It is essential.
Labour diligently.
Grow in skill.
Pursue excellence.
But never make effort your god. Cry for favour beyond your labour.
Because when God places His hand upon a man, outcomes change even in an unfair world.
God’s favour upon your life is your unfair advantage in an unfair world.
