The Wonders of Grace: Grace as the Proof of Unconditional Love.

There is a fundamental offense to the message of Grace: it is completely, violently undeserved.

In our human economy, you get what you pay for. In the Kingdom economy, you get what He paid for.

This message of Grace appears offensive to man because it makes nothing of man’s effort.

It strips us of our pride and our “good works,” leaving us with nothing but the radical reality of Christ’s unconditional love.

Grace: The Divine Initiative

We must understand that Grace is not a response to our goodness; it is God’s Executive Initiative. Before the foundations of the world were laid, God took full responsibility for the salvation of mankind.

The Redemption Plan was not a “Plan B” enacted after the fall. It was the sovereign, preemptive proof of Love.

As Romans 5:8 declares, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.

  • The Highest Expression: This divine initiative—God moving toward man while man was still in rebellion—is the ultimate proof of His love.
  • The Gift: Grace is the undeserving Gift from a deserving God to an underserving man.
  • The Prerogative: It is His absolute initiative and executive decision to reach into your mess and call you “chosen”.

Grace is the underserving Gift  from a deserving God to an underserving man.

The Paul Paradigm: A Pattern of Love

The transformation of Paul from a murderer to an Apostle is the “Pattern” for us all.

Paul didn’t audition for Grace. He didn’t qualify through religious piety. In fact, he was doing everything in his power to oppose the Cross when Love intercepted him.

In 1 Timothy 1:15-16, Paul makes a provocative claim. He says he was shown mercy so that in him, Jesus Christ might display His immense patience as a pattern for those who would believe.

Paul is the Case Study. He is the proof that:

  • Love is Unearned: No man can earn God’s Grace. Saul was busy destroying the church when Love intercepted him.
  • Love is Transformational: It turned a murderer into a messenger. It didn’t just “forgive” Paul; it re-created him.
  • Love is Limitless: If the “Chief of Sinners” could be turned into the greatest Apostle, there is no story Grace cannot rewrite.

Grace turned the murderer into a messenger, proving that there is no limit to the operation of God’s power. If Grace could rewrite Paul’s story, it can rewrite yours.

There is no limit to the operation of Grace. Grace can change any man’s story.

The Revelation of Inadequacy

The wonders of God’s Grace are only revealed in a life that has recognized its helplessness.

You cannot truly know the “God of All Grace” until you reach the end of your own strength.

The world tells you to “be enough.” The Gospel tells you that you are insufficient, and that is exactly why you qualify for the Gift.

Grace is received, not earned. God is the initiator and man is the recipient. You must accept your depravity before you can walk in His Divinity.

God’s grace is revealed in weakness. In the moments where we don’t feel qualified, where you feel undeserving, and helpless, Grace finds expression.

God’s Grace is sufficient for your inadequacy. It takes a humble recognition and acknowledgement to access the Grace of God.

Grace abhors pride.

Like Paul, we must come to the point where we consider every gain as loss. We must come to the point where we acknowledge our vulnerability before the Lord.

  • Recognize your Inadequacy: You cannot receive the Gift while you are still trying to pay for it.
  • Accept your Insufficiency: Grace is received, never earned.
  • Surrender your Effort: No matter how hard you try, earning God’s Grace is a futile effort.

From Revelation to Transformation

Grace is the Unconditional Love of Christ expressed to a world that could never deserve it.

This is the practical core of our theme: the Wonders of Grace are not abstract theories. God revels in taking us from nothing to something, making beauty of our lives no matter how ugly the past may be.

When the enemy triggers your emotions with the stench of old mistakes, remember that Grace has already provided the fragrant oil of a new beginning.

You don’t need more “effort” to fix your life; you need a revelation of The God of All Grace.

When you see Him, you see a Love that initiated your restoration before you even knew you were broken.
